VIRGOE MAKES COLLEGE COMMITMENT

JERSEY SHORE WILDCATS NEWS

The Jersey Shore Wildcats of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that goaltender Rio Virgoe has committed to play ACHA Division I hockey for the University of Arkansas.
Virgo, 21, is from Allen Texas. The 6’4/205 lbs goalie played 25 games, 15 wins, 8 losses with a 2.91 goal against average and a 0.915 save percentage during the regular season 2016-17.
Virgo also spent time on a call up to the NAHL  Wichita Falls Wildcats at the end of the season after a great run during the 2017 NA3HL playoffs with a 0.926 save percentage.
Last season was a pleasure to play for the Jersey Shore Wildcats. All my development and progression as a hockey player significantly improved with coach Leiverman and coach Brule always being there, whether it was a rough patch or a hot streak. I’ve never felt more part of something great than my last season of junior hockey. Thank you for everything.” said Virgo.
When we recruited Rio during summer of 2016 I saw the potential right away , not only on the ice, but also his leadership skill. He had a slow start due to a previous injury that kept him out for a while, but when he got his fitness level and timing on the ice back he became over night a top goalie in the league in my opinion. We wish him all the best with the Razorbacks this season,” said Eric Brule, Director of Hockey Operations for the Wildcats.
